How Canada Is Affected When The US Midterm Polls Close
PRINCE GEORGE — Tonight, when the polls close for the US midterm elections, the country could see some major political changes. But how does that affect our day to day lives as Canadians?
The election today could go one of two ways. Either the Democrats get enough votes to gain a majority in the House of Representatives, or the Republicans are able to maintain control of both the Senate and the House.
Although Canada and the US share a common border, it’s debatable how drastically the results of the midterms will affect Canadians.
“So as far as the domestic politics are concerned, it’s going to be a fairly significant shake-up, but as far as what we’re going to receive, a lot of that policy comes from [President] Donald Trump and the executive,” says Mitch Carter, President of the Political Science Student’s Association at UNBC.
