Santa Spreads Christmas Spirit At UHNBC

PRINCE GEORGE – Christmas came early this year for a few children that have found themselves spending the Christmas holidays in hospital.

Santa’s been making this trip to UHNBC for over a decade to deliver presents and the only thing that seems to change is the children he gets to meet.

“I’m excited, a little tired because I’ve been working long hours but it’s okay and Santa will go on a diet in January like he does every year, so I’m excited,” says Mr Clause. “Well this one here is special because again, sick children need a little bit of joy and happiness and this will help them get better and healthy and they’ll be home for Christmas and I’ll be there as well on Christmas Eve.”

For many families, the hospital isn’t where they expect to spend their days leading up to Christmas but one new mother says the visit from the man in red makes time pass a little easier.

“I think it really brought up the mood in the ward, I think it just made everybody really happy having him come in and see him and meet him and it just made us all feel pretty good,” Kelsey Ballett says holding her new baby girl. “I think it is pretty special, especially this being that this is her first Christmas. I really think it’s something that we’re going to remember for her whole life.”

Santa is headed back to the North Pole to put the final touches on gifts before delivering them to all children on Christmas Eve.
