City Makes Artist Call

PRINCE GEORGE – The City of Prince George is putting out a call to artists for the development of a mural on the northeast corner of the Plaza Parkade at 5th and Queensway.  The mural can fill the two outside walls of the parkade or two areas that measure approximately 5 meters by 13 meters.

“The goal of the commissioned artwork is to beautify the community while conveying the positive spirit of Prince George and Northern BC,” says Doug Hofstede, Community Coordinator with the City of Prince George.

The mural is being sponsored by the Northern Real Estate Board to mark it’s 50th anniversary.  Board Vice President Leah Mayer said, “we feel privileged for the opportunity to assist a local artist in bringing to life a work that we hope will delight the community.”

The deadline for submissions is August 30th and the successful artist or artists will be announced in September.  An adjudication team will judge the entries and will include representatives from the Northern Real Estate Board, the City’s Public Art Advisory Group, and City staff.
