Dozens Brave Conditions For Polar Bear Dip
It could have been worse but it still wasn’t plenty. Temperatures in the minus 10 range greeted about 50 people who took part in the Ness Lake Bible Camps 17th Polar Bear Dip New Year’s Day.
Some came in costumes while others brought their brave spirits to jump into a hole cut through 30 centimetres of ice. Water, measured at minus 0.5 awaited them.
“It was very cold but a lot of fun,” said a pair of men dressed as bumble bees. They continued, “beautiful day, sunshine, good company to be around, great way to start the year.”
While the crowd that gathered around to watch the dip were the big winners, so was the bible camp. It raised approximately $7,000 to support its camper sponsorship fund. The fund supports families who are not able to fund a trip to the summer camp for their child.
