Unofficial Results Have Bennett In The Lead
PRINCE GEORGE – Results were slow to come in for the school board trustees Saturday night and so far only the unofficial results are available.
Former chair, Tim Bennett anxiously awaited the outcome. He says new-comers will have to overcome a huge learning curve, something he had to do when he was first elected to the board seven years ago. He says there will be some large challenges the new board will have to face early on in their term.
Unofficial election results have Bennett sitting at 6,825 votes which is more than one thousand votes over any other nominee. Also under unofficial results, others joining Bennett on the board, are Ron Polillo (5,318), Trent Derrick (4,852), incumbent Sharel Warrington (4,723), and Betty Bekkering (4,603).
Things will look different this year for the trustees, as a ward system was introduced to the district earlier this year. There are two out of town trustees from Robson Valley and Mackenzie. Mackenzie’s trustee, Shuirose Valimohamed was acclaimed last month.
