Pile Burns Planned for Williams Lake

WILLIAMS LAKE — The BC Wildfire Service is planning some pile burns of woody debris in Williams Lake (near Fox Mountain) as part of ongoing fuel management over the next four weeks.
As a result, it says smoke and flames may be visible from Williams Lake and surrounding communities.
“By removing this material, less fuel will be available to burn in the event of a wildfire and any such fire will burn with less intensity.”
The BC Wildfire Service says the burns will depend on site and weather conditions and note personnel will be on site with firefighting equipment to monitor and control these burns at all times.
