Regional District Considers Composting

PRINCE GEORGE – In Metro Vancouver, residents are required to compost their food scraps or face a fine. Here in Prince George, you are free to toss that orange peel in the garbage… for now.

The Regional District plans to do an organics waste diversion study to see how composting would work in our city.

Jos Van Hage, the owner of Art Knapp, hopes people won’t wait for the Regional District and will start composting in their own backyards.

“By having your own compost you don’t have to go to the store, and buy that bag of mushroom manure or compost because now you have it yourself, and you know it’s going to be good. Because like I said, I’ll say again, the best compost is the compost you make at home,” says Jos Van Hage, Owner of Art Knapp.
