VICTORIA — The BC government is forming a wild salmon advisory council to guide efforts to protect the dwindling resource.

Premier John Horgan made the announcement this morning in Victoria, flanked by Agriculture Minister Lana Popham and Green party MLA Adam Olsen.

Horgan says the 14-member advisory council will bring experts together to help develop a wild salmon strategy to protect fish stocks.

The council will advise the province as a wild salmon strategy is created this summer, with the recommendations due to go to the legislative assembly’s Select Standing Committee on Agriculture, Fish, and Food, this fall.
