Arrests Made in Counterfeit Investigation
PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George RCMP have arrested two women after surrounding a home on Monahan Crescent in College Heights Wednesday morning.
Mounties say they were executing a search warrant as part of an ongoing counterfeit investigation. Mounties arrived at the home around 9:30 am and attempted to enter the home. However, they were slowed because the front door had been reinforced.
A resident of the neighbourhood says the home at the centre of the investigation had new tenants move-in within the last few months.
Mounties are asking business owners to remain vigilant in checking cash that is used for transactions. Police have received 44 reports of counterfeit currency from January 1st to March 21st of this year, which is a 389 percent increase from last year. The investigation is ongoing.
