Postal Strike Looming

PRINCE GEORGE – Clark Rasmussen is working his route in the Hart today, dropping off mail along Ridgeview. He is one of 150 members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 812 and he is one of the thousands who could be walking off the jobs soon.

“The main thing is, a lot of stuff on the table we’ve been negotiating for two years. A lot of labour force right now has been forced into overtime,” he says, on behalf of Local 812. “The Company itself is making millions of dollars every year, but yet we’ve been curtting positions year-after-year for the last five years.”

He says the union has been pushing to improve services and online shopping has increased workload.

He says he understands the inconvenience that a strike could create, especially for seniors.
