Spring Ahead On Sunday
It’s time to change those clocks. We spring ahead for Daylight Saving Time this Sunday at 2:00 am.
Psychologist Dr. Cindy Hardy says the time change affects the amount of sun exposure you get throughout the day, which has some consequences:
“We all follow our circadian rhythm which is tied to our exposure to the sunlight, and that kind of dictates when we wake up, when we go to sleep when we feel like eating, our energy levels through the day, that kind of thing. So when we do the time change, that gets shifted by the hour. This time of year is a little easier because we still have daylight when we wake up,” says Dr. Hardy
In Canada, not all places will be adjusting their clocks, as the time change doesn’t apply to Saskatchewan, which remains on central standard time year-round.
