PRINCE GEORGE – The Canadian National Institute For The Blind (CNIB) celebrated its upcoming 100th anniversary at the Prince George Public Library this week.

After 50 years of volunteering, Ron McIvor was given the Century of Change medal.

McIvor had vision loss in a car accident back in 1966 . Over the years McIvor adjusted to losing his sight with the help of CNIB. He decided to give back by volunteering.

Brad Hooge, CNIB Manager for Northern B.C. says, “Ron’s volunteering with CNIB goes back so far we don’t have the technology to count up all his hours. But I was able to go into our system and figure out that since 2011 Ron has done over 4,200 hours of volunteer service.”
