Serving Chili To Help The Arts

PRINCE GEORGE – It was the perfect warm treat for the cool Saturday weather.  This year’s Chili Fest & Arts Bazaar festivities included live music and artist demonstrations, as well as an opportunity to browse through stalls.

Local potters from The Potter’s Guild sold handmade bowls for $25, that would then be filled up with chili. The money raised supports Studio 2880 Prince George and District Community Arts Council.

One of the resident artists at Studio 2880 creates traditional and contemporary Métis beadwork. Lynette La Fontaine was raised in Fraser Lake, lived in Fort St. James, and finally moved to Prince Geroge 12 years ago. La Fontaine feels people are just now starting to take notice of her work:  ‘It takes at least five years in a new community, but now I find people are reaching out,” says Lynette La Fontaine, Studio 2880 Resident Artist.

La Fontaine showcased her beadwork today alongside co-resident Michael Kast. She says she feels lucky to be part of the program.
