PRINCE GEORGE — Three local arts organizations and one in McBride are the recipients of some grant funding from the Regional District.
Exploration Place, the Two Rivers Gallery and the Valley Museum and Archives in McBride each received five thousand dollars, while the Railway and Forestry Museum received two thousand dollars. In each case, the money is earmarked for a special project, such as KidzArt Dayz at the art gallery and a First Nations artwork project at the Exploration Place.
For the Art Gallery, every little bit helps.
“We figure between $40,000 and $50,000 now [to run KidzArt Dayz]. It’s a two-day event, it’s free for the community, we have over 10,000 people attending,” says Carolyn Holmes, Managing Director with the Two Rivers Gallery. “And with more people attending, we’re finding that we’re using a lot more materials and it’s costing us a lot more.”
