Today marks the launch of the sixth annual Buy Local Week, which encourages people to buy local during the holiday shopping season. The province-wide program has several partners, including the Northern Development Initiative Trust and the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets. According to organizers of the event, LOCO BC, Canadians spend about $1,500 on travel, dining, clothing, food and gifts at this time of year. The Buy Local campaign makes sure that money helps local businesses and communities.
As part of the campaign, participating local BC businesses will be promoting their locally owned business, locally-grown and locally-made products with bright pink stickers online and in-store.
