Snow Is A Good Thing! Really!
PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George residents are growing weary of the snow, with no end seemingly in sight. But the volume of snow on the ground puts a smile on a gardener’s face.
“The best blanket there is,” says Jos Van Hage with Art Knapp’s Plantland. “There’s no better blanket than the snow cover on the plants.
He says the snow cover also means the ground frost will be less and will come out of the ground earlier in the spring. But will the sheer amount of snow delay Spring? Too early to say.
“Don’t let the snow fool you. I’ve been here 38 years and it seems like this year looks like 1981-82, lots of snow. They say the forecast is for a later spring. You can see it already in Vancouver. I would not get too excited.”
