“Out Spoken In Care” Encourages Youth To Speak Up

Nov 24, 2017 | 4:05 PM

Carrier Sekani Family Services hosted about 20 children and youth in government care this afternoon. It was a workshop that encouraged each kid to find their voice and speak up about changes they’d like to see within the organization. They participated in music, poetry, and art workshops. They also got a chance to listen to inspiring First Nations speakers, who were also formerly in care. One of the goals of the event was to get youth involved in a new youth advisory council, to help give feedback to Carrier Sekani and plan future events.  The next youth forum will be held in Burns Lake in January.
