Community Art Project Sheds Light on Stigma

Stigma in Form is a community art project created by staff at Positive Living North. The goal is to raise awareness for the various types of stigma. PLN approached several community organizations and asked them to design a mannequin that depicts what stigma means to them. “It allowed the front line workers to actually tell people what their clients, their members, patrons, and patients are facing daily,” said Support Services manager, Judy Mitchell.

The collection has been on display around Prince George since August. Tonight, each form will find a new home as they’ll be auctioned off. The money raised from each piece will go back to the organization that designed it. Some of the groups involved are: the Central Interior Native Health Society, the New Hope Society, Carrier Sekani Family Services, and the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society. There are 18 mannequins up for auction.

The auction takes place from 7 until 9 at Studio 2880.
