Dozens Gather For Day Of Action On Overdose Crisis

PRINCE GEORGE- About two dozen people gathered at the courthouse to support those affected by the overdose crisis this morning. The goal is to end the stigma and decriminalize drug use, so those with addictions can use in safe spaces.  The BC Coroners Service says nearly 60% of overdose deaths last year happened in a private residence. That’s why speakers also encouraged the community to get naloxone kits and training.

“I believe if it was decriminalized, my daughter Courtney would still be here, and she would have felt more comfortable finding a place that was safe so she could use, instead of using by herself,” said Niki Hanson.

Free naloxone training and kits were handed out at the event. London Drugs and Save-On-Foods pharmacies also offer training and free kits.
