Operation Red Nose Looking For Volunteers

Nov 14, 2017 | 10:51 AM

Operation Red Nose is gearing up for another year. This will be the program’s 20th year in Prince George. The program offers a safe ride home, with your vehicle, over the holidays. This year, Operation Red Nose volunteers will be working from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on December 1 and 2, December 8 and 9, December 15 and 16, and December 29, 30 and New Year’s Eve.
In 2016, the program made 872 rides in 10 nights and the year before, they offered 1,059 safe rides over nine nights.  The latter number placed Prince George as second among 13th communities in BC to offer the program.
Currently, they have 196 volunteers signed up and would like to see at least 300 volunteers this year. They need drivers and navigators as well as people to man the phones and so on.
To volunteer, you can go to www.ornpg.ca to get the process started.
