Provincial Carpet Bowling Tournament
PRINCE GEORGE – To participate in the sport of Carpet Bowling requires moderate exercise, a bit of neighbourly competition and the company of friendly people. This week, the Hart Pioneer Centre rolled out the green carpet for over a hundred seniors taking part in the Provincial Carpet Bowling Championship. Many of the people who participated in Carpet bowling do it for fun and friendship. However, when the jack ball is tossed the game becomes a game of strategy for some players. Carpet Bowling, is described by some people as a cross between bucci and curling. At some points during a game, an official measurement is required to determine which team was nearest to the jack ball. The provincial carpet bowling championship ends this Friday – while not all will finish as winners, they do finish as friends.
