UNBC Research has shown an improvement in the local air-shed in the past dozen years.
The work was conducted by Environmental Science professor Dr. Peter Jackson and a crew of graduate and undergraduate students.
They compared a dozen years of air quality data and found the worst fine particular matter in the Bowl when the wind blew from the east bringing industrial pollutants to the area.
However, it also found there was a significant decrease in particulate matter when there were wind events.
