Explosive device scare closes Webber Crescent
PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George RCMP has finally explained why a Prince George street was closed to traffic Friday night (see previous story here).
Cpl. Craig Douglass says it all started when police received a report of a possible improvised explosive device found on a nearby trail.
“A man was on the trail near CN Centre and came across what he believed to be a pipe bomb-style improvised explosive device,” he says. “The man picked up the device and brought it to a residence on Webber Crescent before calling police.”
Douglass says officers descended on the area and evacuated the home and neighbouring properties (though those living in neighbouring properties were allowed to return to their homes later that night).
