PRINCE GEORGE— Police are investigating and searching for a suspect following an early morning hit and run collision that killed a man in a wheelchair and left another man seriously injured.

Just after 12 a.m. today (May 11), a frontline officer from the Prince George RCMP was on patrol on Victoria Street between 15th and 17th Avenue, where he came across what appeared to be the scene of a collision.

The officer located two adult males suffering from injuries. The two men were transported to hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe the two men were struck by a north bound vehicle that didn’t stop.

The 48-year-old man in the wheelchair died as a result of his injuries. The 56-year-old man on the bicycle is recovering and is expected to survive.

Officers believe the suspect’s vehicle is a dark colored 2012 or 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle will have extensive damage to the passenger side.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or its location is asked to contact police immediately.
