54th Annual Rodeo welcomes pros for the first time

QUESNEL–The Quesnel Rodeo has been up and running for 54 years and Gus Cameron has been there, every step of the way.

Cameron and his wife, Founders of the Quesnel Rodeo have both been a part of the club since its start 54 years ago. They have helped the club grow since the beginning and this year proves it with a new first. They are welcoming 25 pro riders for their first ever Professional Saddle Bronc Riding Event.

“It’s the first one in Canada that has tried to do kind of like a hybrid, half amateur bit of pro added in.”–Ray Jasper, President of the Quesnel Rodeo Club

The pros will be joined by 298 amateur competitors, making it the biggest BC rodeo association event on the circuit.

Last year, around 7,000 people came out to the event throughout the weekend, and this years is expected to be busy as well. Events kick off July 19 at 6:30.
