PRINCE GEORGE— People diagnosed with HIV or AIDS face setbacks, but live normal and meaningful lives.

The lives of people who have lived with HIV or AIDS were celebrated at the HIV/AIDS Walk & Family Fun Day today (July 20).

Many walked through Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park spreading positive messages, aiming to reduce the stigma surrounding the illnesses. The festivities lasted all day, with games in the park before and after the walk.

“The biggest message that we want to spread today is that people living with HIV are just like anybody else. They’re not a danger to anybody,” Positive Living North Aids Walk Coordinator Kyla Turner says. “Many of them are now raising families and they’re living happy, healthy lives.”
