Liberal candidate announced for Skeena-Bulkley Valley

Fort St. James — Another candidate has joined the race to replace outgoing NDP MP Nathan Cullen in Skeena-Bulkley Valley.

This time it’s Liberal Dave Birdi of Fort St. James.

Birdi has been a resident of Fort St. James since the 1970’s where he’s raised his family.

He says he brings a “top-down approach” based on his experience, which he says includes time served as a district councillor, an avid volunteer, and work in the financial sector and with the Indigenous community.

Birdi says he’s committed to working with Prime Minster Justin Trudeau “to strengthen the middle class, create well-paying new jobs, and offer real help for families.”

He is one of four declared candidates in the riding. The others are the NDP’s Taylor Bachrach, the Conservatives Claire Rattee and Jody Craven of the People’s Party of Canada.

The federal election is scheduled for October 21.
