TYH: Prenatal yoga, the benefits for mom’s expecting
Although a baby is still far in the future for me, it might not be for you and here’s something that might help you with your pregnancy.
Prenatal yoga. We headed over to Chinook Yoga who offer prenatal yoga classes to expectant mothers, along with a follow up class aimed at ensuring emotions and mental health, post pregnancy stay healthy.
I had the chance to speak with both Carla Wainwright, one of the owners of Chinook Yoga and Denise Marshall, Studio Manager and they spoke to me about the benefits an expectant mother might see.
“Her(expectant mother’s) pregnancy is easier, she has fewer aches and pains. And her body, she just feels more energized, feels emotionally more aligned and it also leads to easier delivery and recovery because women have these tools and techniques that they can use, that they learnt in prenatal class and then the recoveries are so much faster,” said Wainwright. Some of the tools women will walk away with include: breath work for labour, meditation techniques to help with challenges of labour and poses to help with dilation.
