Forestry cutbacks prompts rally in Mackenzie

MACKENZIE — Mill workers in Mackenzie have planned a rally next week in response to the indefinite closure of Canfor’s sawmill.

The Mackenzie Matters rally will take place on Thursday August 22 from noon until 4 p.m.

Hundreds of workers are without jobs following the decision to indefinitely curtail sawmill operations at Canfor and to temporarily curtail operations at the Conifex sawmill.

Rally attendees will gather by the forestry building to march through town.
