Man drowns in Robson River

VALEMOUNT – According to RCMP, on Friday August 9 2019, an adult male and two companions were walking along the lower section of the Berg Lake trail when he slipped and fell into the Robson River. The man was swept away by the fast-moving water.

Police, Robson Valley SAR, BC Parks, Parks Canada and BC Ambulance attended however, the man was located deceased approximately 800 metres downstream from where he fell in.

A swift water rescue team recovered the man from the river. The 53-year-old man, a Chinese citizen, was visiting the area.

This area is the same location that saw the drowning death of a German tourist in June 2019.
