Here are the five things we think you need to know today:

Man arrested in connection to break and enters and stolen vehicle

A man was arrested on Thursday (Aug.15) in connection to three break and enters and the theft of a vehicle. The break ins occurred in the BCR Site and another was on the 1400 block of 10th ave. The 30-year-old was remanded in custody until his next hearing, next week. Police say they are aware of the similarities between this break and enter and others committed recently.

Conservation Officers remind public of consequences to illegally dumping food in lieu of hike in bear activity

A box of apples was found dumped in the Creekside neighbourhood earlier this week and conservation officers say fruit dumpers could face a $230 fine. Officers are asking the public to be diligent of how they rid themselves of their, backyard-fruit,in order to not cause temptation to bears. Officers mention they’ve seen an increase in bear activity over the past week.

Transit expansion and increased fare rates for fall 2019

A transit service expansion will hit the streets of Prince George in September. Spruceland, Hart and Queensway routes will see extended service hours. Fares are also expected to go up and the DayPASS will now be available aboard transit.

Man arrested in search warrant that revealed six stolen rifles

RCMP arrested a man during a criminal code search warrant on Thursday (Aug.15.) They seized stolen property which included, six rifles, ATV’s and a dirt bike. The 43-year-old man was released, pending the completion of the investigation.

RCMP arrest stabbing suspect

An 18-year-old Vanderhoof woman is facing charges after an alleged stabbing that occurred on Wednesday (Aug.14) at around 4 PM on the 1400 block of 3rd Ave. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is expected in court on September 11th.
