Evacuation order lifted for southwest Tagish Lake fire

SMITHERS–An Arctic cold front moving through the Northwest Fire Centre has brought with it cooler temperatures and rain to the region.

BC Wildfire Service firefighters are working to demobilize firefighting equipment and structural protection units, associated with the Cassiar Fire Zone. This comes after a downturn in fire activity and the lack of fires threatening buildings, which has lead to the lift in the evacuation order.

The BC Wildfire Service says they will continue to monitor the fire in the coming days and will keep working closely with homeowners in the Tagish Lake area.

The Barrington River fire, Volcano Creek Complex, Alkali Lake Fire and Mehan Lake Fire continue to be monitored.
