NEW HAZELTON, B.C. — Mounties are seeking the public’s help in locating a man last seen on Tuesday (Aug.27).

Police say Wayne Morrison went mushroom picking with a friend in the Helen Lake area on the morning of Aug. 27.

“When he did not meet his companion at the prearranged time of 5 p.m., his friend began to look for him,” says North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson. “When he was not located, the RCMP were notified.”

She says search and rescue, along with RCMP air support and police dog services have been deployed.

Wayne is described as:

  • Indigenous male
  • Five feet 11 inches tall
  • 209 pounds
  • Brown eyes
  • Black Hair

Saunderson says Wayne has been mushroom picking in the past and is familiar with the area he was last seen in but notes he was not appropriately prepared to be out overnight.

If you see Wayne you are urged to call police at (250)842-5244.
