First day back

PRINCE GEORGE – Kids took to the streets this morning outside Westwood Elementary School, handing out “Think of Me” postcards. The school’s Grades Three and Four students created the cards last year in preparation for today, the first day of school.

“I don’t want anybody getting hurt,” said Callen, a Grade Four student at the school this year. The cards are all individualized to depict what is important to each of the kids in those classes, which in turn, serves as a reminder to motorists why they need to slow down with school back in session.

The RCMP says the volunteer groups last year issued 1,400 warnings to those who were caught speeding through school zones. That does not include what the uniformed officers issued.
