Almost 18 million Canadians voted in this year’s Federal Election

GATINEAU Q.C–The numbers are out for Monday’s Federal Election.

Based on the data gathered from 99.67 percent of polls, 17,980,264 Canadians exercised their right to vote, meaning a turnout rate of 65.95 percent, not including electors who registered on election day.

It is estimated that around 4,774,963 people voted at advance polls between Oct.11 and Oct. 14. 111,300 voted on campus at one of the 119 temporary Elections Canada offices between Oct.5th and 9th, and 34,324 voted by mail from abroad.

Elections Canada opened 503 offices across the country and 365 ordinary polling stations on reserves, hiring almost 300,000 people to help with the election across the country.
