Hereditary Chief Ed John charged with sexual assault

PRINCE GEORGE — A prominent First Nations leader has been charged with four counts of sexual assault for incidents alleged to have occurred over four decades ago in and around Prince George.
The suspect has been identified as Edward John, Hereditary Chief of the Tl’azt’en Nation and former NDP cabinet minister.
The BC Prosecution Service has appointed Michael Klein as special prosecutor in the case. John is facing four counts of having sexual intercourse with a female person without her consent.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred between March 1 1974 and September 15 1974.
