Hatchery allures tourism

Vanderhoof – The Vanderhoof sturgeon fish hatchery is making waves with the tourism industry.

The facility has the attention of some people wanting to take a closer look at prehistoric-looking fish. In turn, giving a little boost to the local economy.

The months of June to August saw over 2000 tourists from around the world visit the hatchery to take a peek at a survivor from the age of the dinosaurs, the Nechako White Sturgeon.

This animal is the largest freshwater fish in Canada and has existed relatively unchanged for millions of years.
