Franco-Nord gives back
PRINCE GEORGE – Students at Ecole Franco-Nord spent the morning sorting through a trove of foodstuffs collected from the kind folks of the Seymour neighbourhood. The goods are heading to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
“Because we want people to have food and a good Christmas,” explains Samantha, a Grade Seven student in the school.
In the past, students used to do shovelling to raise money for a worthy cause but that became very complicated. Food drives have been the focus for the past six years. “It’s mind-boggling. People are so giving, even if its one can per house,” explains Delores Patenaude, Directrice of Franco-Nord. “And we’ve done every house in the [Seymour] community. It’s whatever you feel comfortable giving because one day, it will come back to you, regardless.”
She says each year, the community really puts its all behind helping the community.
