PG couple helps ship Christmas shoeboxes to less fortunate kids

PRINCE GEORGE — A Prince George couple recently returned from Calgary after spreading Christmas joy through Operation Christmas Child.

George and Frieda Krahn started with Operation Christmas Child in the mid-1990’s as a way to teach their kids about giving during the holidays rather than getting. Calgary is where Samaritan’s Purse Canada’s headquarters is, where shoeboxes are made up and shipped out to less-fortunate kids in countries around the world. After years of filling shoeboxes, this year they decided to head to the processing centre.

This is not the first time the volunteer work has taken them out of town. In 2003, they went on a trip to Nicaragua to deliver the shoeboxes.

Shoeboxes are filled with anything from clothes to toys to school supplies. They are collected all over Canada with the big push coming in the fall. But donations can still be made up until December 31.
