Salvation Army distributing a thousand Christmas hampers this year
PRINCE GEORGE – The boxes were lined all set in a row, with the hopes that a family would take one of them home.
The Salvation Army, along with numerous other social organizations within the community, will yet again be making the night before Christmas a little bit more joyful for a number of families.
The Army’s Neil Wilkinson says it’s a six-month process to get things organized and then execute their hamper program.
“There are all kinds of processes that need to happen; six months in advance, three months in advance, and then the application process begins at the end of October, into November. The families in need come to the Salvation Army throughout the entire month of November to fill out applications for Christmas hampers. Then, of course, when we get this close to Christmas it’s time to share a little bit of Christmas joy.”
