One step left before Masich upgrades, construction to start in the new year
PRINCE GEORGE — The City of Prince George is currently waiting to confirm bids from contractors on a number of new improvements for Masich Place. It is the second round of upgrades for the stadium, despite quite a bit of backlash earlier in the year.
In 2018, Masich Place Stadium got a pretty big facelift. Now, more improvements on the way that will have the stadium ready for the 2022 BC Summer Games.
The improvements aren’t specifically for those summer games, but it certainly doesn’t hurt. But that’s not all. One of the main beneficiaries of the upgrades is the UNBC Timberwolves and more opportunities for the program could be on the way.
But the response has not been all positive. In the spring, an alternate approval process sent a pretty big message to the city and council as nearly 3,000 forms returned hoping to overturn the bylaw. The total cost of the new project is $2,701,000.
