CALGARY, AB — The Cariboo Cougars kept their hopes alive at the Mac’s Trip A Midget Hockey Tournament in Calgary by blowing out the Calgary Royals 5-1 last night.

In Saturday’s victory, John Herrington, Devan Minard, Jackson Hassman and Aiden Reeves all scored for the Cougars in the opening 20 minutes. The Herrington and Reeves goals were power-play markers.

The Cats went ahead 5-0 on a second-period goal by Alex Ochitwa before the Royals finally broke goaltender Jordan Fairlie’s shutout bid in the last eight minutes of the third period.

Tonight they will take a 2-1 record into their final game of pool play against the St. Albert Nektar Raiders who are 2-0 so far in the tournament.
