Highway plow trucks need room to work
PRINCE GEORGE – With Prince George under a snowfall warning, CKPG was invited by highway contractors YRB to find out first hand what it’s like to work the snowy highways during the dead of winter.
We found out, YRB has to deal with careless drivers putting themselves and operators at risk on a daily basis.
Much of the operators’ visibility is limited on the right side of the plow truck. In the Prince George area, YRB highway snowplow crews work around the clock during snow events, with over 25 plow trucks, clearing over 430 kilometres of highway.
During a snowstorm, plow trucks make a pass every 90 minutes.
