PRINCE GEORGE – Five members of the community at large have been identified to be part of the Select Committee on a Safe, Clean and Inclusive Downtown. One of those five individuals was a notable speaker at the Special Council meeting on December 2nd to address the societal issues downtown. Those who attended the meeting know Daniel Roy as “Bob,” who once plagued the Salvation Army with break-ins. Now, it is his place of work.

“I just kind of wanted to be the voice of reason for those who are homeless and those who are stuck in addiction, being ex-homeless, being an ex-drug addict myself,” explains his position when he spoke at the December 2nd meeting. “The only thing I could do was tell my own truth.”

He joins four other members of the public to sit on the Select Committee. He says he wants two things on the table: the need for affordable housing and the need for recovery services in this community.
