KELOWNA – The UNBC Timberwolves were on both ends of the term ‘back-to-back’ this weekend when they took to the hardwood against the UBC Okanagan Heat.

While Friday’s tilt saw the women’s squad use a quarter to create some cushion and pull away from the Heat, Saturday brought with it a too-close for comfort type vibe for the TWolves and they held on for a 72-70 win.

Maria Mongomo followed her historic performance on Friday with yet another solid outing on Saturday. Mongomo dropped 35 points, seven rebounds, and five steals for the TWolves on Friday, including her 1,499th career point to become the all-time scoring leader. She followed those numbers up with 30 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

The Heat now get ready to take on the Winnipeg Wesmen next weekend, while the Timberwolves play host to the Brandon Bobcats at the Northern Sport Centre in Prince George.
