Adversity didn’t put an end to her basketball career: Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast
PRINCE GEORGE– A former UNBC alumna is returning to Prince George in March to share her inspiring story of how she triumphed adversity in her favourite sport at the 6th Annual Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast.
Kady Dandeneau played for the UNBC Women’s Timberwolves basketball team from 2007-2013, establishing herself as a fan favourite over her course with the team.
However, injuries on the court put an end to her stand-up basketball career. Parting from the Timberwolves as a two-time BCCAA Provincial Champion, two-time BCCAA All-star, and All-Star at the National level, she felt at a loss not being able to play.
But the inability to play the sport standing didn’t stop her from finding a workaround so she could continue playing the sport she loves. In 2015 she decided to give wheelchair basketball a try and not long after became part of Wheelchair Basketball Canada’s National Development program.
