PRINCE GEORGE–We just made it in the clear of last week’s cold-snap…but there is another one headed our way!

Coldsnap 2020 kicks off today, Friday, Jan.24th at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramada hotel. This festival is nearing 20 years of taking place in Prince George.

Several bands are helping kick off the nine-day event, starting with the northern BC band, Big Fancy, followed by the Eliza Doyle Band, and ending with the Foghorn Stringband.

“I am really excited,” said Eliza Doyle to us in an on-camera interview, “I always feel honoured to be in somebody else’s community and to be able to share my music.”

Eliza has been playing music since 2002 and owes her community of Saskatchewan, for shaping her style of music to what it is today, high energy, bluegrass, folk-styled music.

Coldsnap hosts artists from all over the world at various events throughout the nine days. “We like to say you can discover your new favourite band because… a lot of times it’s bands you might not have heard of but they’ll quickly get to the top of your playlist,” said Fraser Hayes, Producer of Coldsnap Music Festival.

This year the festival has added a Hip-hop night to their event, something Hayes says organizers had spoken about in the past but hadn’t put together until this year. The Hip-Hop event taking place on Saturday, Jan.25th, has sold out since tickets were first released.

Coldsnap 2020 will run until Feb.1st 2020.
