Bus driver and police officer allegedly assaulted at UNBC

PRINCE GEORGE — UPDATE: Suspects have been charged in the alleged assault of a bus driver and police officer last night.

30-year-old Geoffrey David Lamb of Prince George was charged with assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, uttering threats, and causing a disturbance.

29-year-old Marsha Michelle Lewis of Prince George was charged with assault and causing a disturbance. Both suspects appeared in court today (Jan.29) and were released until their next court date on Feb.26th.

EARLIER: A frightening scene at UNBC early last night beginning at around 5:30 p.m.

Prince George RCMP allege a bus driver and a police officer were assaulted by an unruly passenger on a transit bus on campus. Initial reports were that an intoxicated man, accompanied by a woman, were harassing passengers.

Both were asked to get off the bus but refused and assaulted the bus driver.

Police allege an officer was also assaulted while trying to apprehend the man.The pair were held in custody overnight and will appear in court today.

Earlier: (6 p.m. Jan. 28) There’s a heavy police presence at UNBC this hour.

Just before 6 p.m. tonight Prince George RCMP vehicles could be heard speeding up University Way.

Mounties attribute the commotion to an “unruly bus passenger.”
