PRINCE GEORGE — A new show of support for those helping out through the COVID-19 pandemic. Prince George Strong shirts with the hashtag #WeCanBeatThis.

“I have been to a lot of these facilities and I thought it would be really cool to go in and see a whole floor wearing these,” said Peter Schlitt, Owner of Up the Creek. “That was sort of the idea that we thought would be really interesting.”

A handful of organizations like the local RCMP, those in the healthcare sector, and Carrier Sekani Family Services receiving these tokens as a sign of solidarity. Standing together, but not too close, as communities continue to work together in a time of need.

“I think this has really shown us how community really looks, how family really looks; that we are all together and that we’re trying to really understand that there is a physical distance but we still need to be socially together,” explained Mary Teegee, Executive Director of CSFS.

So that, all in support of workers and organizations within Prince George. But Up the Creek is supporting other communities from Mackenzie to Bella Coola to Whitehorse.

As of right now, the shirts are just being donated to workers as a show of support from the Up the Creek. Schlitt said there is the chance they could soon be available for the general public as well.
