CERB available to Canadians starting today
OTTAWA—Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canadians affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are able to begin applying for financial help from the government.
Trudeau began his address by remembering the 16 lives lost in the 2018 Humboldt Bronco’s accident. “We’re here for you, we will always be here for you” said Trudeau to families and friends who lost someone in the accident that happened two years ago today.
The Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) was launched this morning, those born in the months of January, February and March are able to apply for the benefit today. Depending on your birth month you’ll be able to apply for the benefit on later days this week.
The CERB will provide $2,000 a month to those who have lost their jobs, are taking care of someone with COVID-19 and are unable to work, or are living with a disability.
